A person who is afraid to speak up in defense of whiteness for fear of being “lynched” for it is a great illustration of the difference between bias and institutional racism.
If you are a victim of bias, you might be afraid of being “lynched”, i.e., roundly disagreed with.
If you are a victim of racism, you might be afraid of being “lynched”, i.e., lynched.
