i have been working on the right to dream campaign with my group for months. we had a major action in may that i posted about, and today we got some results.
obama has issued an executive order stopping the deportation of dream act eligible youth and providing them with an opportunity for unlimited renewal of work permits. this also affects people like me, who have final deportation orders.
this is such a relief and i dont think ya’ll know how much i have worked on this campaign. to see the power of grassroots organizing reach the ears of the president is an amazing feeling. today i got a call from bloomberg and i will be featured in an article they are writing on the development.
i will post it here later, along with the interview i did for the national asian pacific americans women’s forum (which hasnt been published yet).
i really want to take the time to urge people to take action in their own communities in any way that they can. whether it is simply by supporting other issues or starting your own political campaigns, real on the ground action that harnesses the potential of people that society wants to throw away is POWERFUL, AMAZING, AND POSSIBLE.
also i am taking the black out over my tumblr off but i will not be on regularly any longer.
